A SHORT HISTORY
During his second visit to New York, U.S.A, in 1984, Mawu Fe Ame advised the formation of church branches in North America. Heeding his advice, VENUNYE BEATRICE NYAMADI and EDEM SOSOO met in Hamilton, Ontario, and decided to hold bi-weekly meetings to worship in the ARS tradition.
Not long after, Venunye Nyamadi moved to Toronto, and that arrangement fizzled. About the same time, there was an influx of refugees from Ghana to the Toronto area, some of which were ARS members. She organized them, and meetings were held in her apartment at 45 Driftwood. When she moved to 1451 Ithaca Court in Mississauga, the weekly meetings continued there until October 1993 when Mawu Fe Ame C.K.N. WOVENU made his maiden visit to CANADA.
The existing 'church' was disbanded, and four individuals were appointed as an interim committee to oversee the operations of the group. He then promised another visit. In February of 1994 Mawu Fe Ame arrived to
inaugurate the branch of the church. In October 1994, Mawu Fe Ame made his final visit to Canada. He appointed another Committee of four to run the affairs of the church, and
promised to send an emissary. The church moved to 274 Eddystone Avenue in November 1994, and held the first church service at these premises on the 6th of November.
In May 1995 Brigadier (Rtd) A.N. TEHN-ADDY arrived as the promised emissary, and stayed till November. The product of his work was an exhaustive report, and the establishment of a chain of command.
In April 1999 Mawu Fe Ame, on his last visit to Great Britain, called and directed that the Leader of the Church should be Reverend VENUNYE BEATRICE NYAMADI. This was followed by his correspondence to
confirm this. Hardly did we know that this was his last direction on the issue. He passed away a few days after this direction was given. The church presently is well established both in ecclesiastical and temporal
matters. Church services are held regularly in the ARS tradition. The distinctive African flavour is attracting a lot of people. Hence, community Banquet dinners and Picnics are held regularly to foster fellowship that will
stimulate discussions of the tenets of the church. It is anticipated that the Almighty God will call some of these into His flock. The church has a very expansive outreach program that liaises with other
community organizations to provide food, shelter, clothing, and other basic necessities to the less fortunate under the auspices of the SOCIETY FOR THE LIVING (AGBENUNYALE) Presently the influence of the church is
limited to the Greater Toronto area. Plans are afoot to inaugurate branches of the church in Montreal in the Quebec Province. We continue to scout for ARS members, so we can harness their efforts towards the establishment of
other church branches. We encourage all members and non-members to contact us towards the attainment of this laudable objective. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heaven, and those
who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Daniel 12 verse 3 BRANCHES IN OTHER OVERSEAS COUNTRIES ARE LISTED BELOW: Headquarters TADZEWU GHANA, WEST AFRICAU.S.A. |
